The trip so far, Yangshuo
Note: new/other photos will be posted once I have a chance to really edit them after getting home.
Yangshuo has been the highlight of the trip so far for me, and I’d rate it as just slightly below South Ireland and the Cinque Terre in my list of favorite places. We started off our first day with a small river boat cruise down the Li river from Guilin. The views were fantastical, but a bit hazy for great photos. We had a hand selected stir fry lunch in Yangshuo. After lunch, we went with a tour to see the Dragon bridge, bamboo rafting on the Yulong river, and then finally got a ride from in town to our hotel, the Yangshuo Mountain Retreat.
The hotel was a great place to base out of, the landscape was fantastic, the room was simple and comfortable, the food all fresh and amazing delicious. We also got the see two nice thunderstorms, something that always brightens my mood a little bit. Was a great place to relax, walk around a bit, even did a nice little 25k bike ride.
One night we went into town to see the show Impressions Liu Sanjie, by the same director as the Beijing Olympics and Hero… Was sadly a bit disappointing, and matched our overall feeling of the town as an overpriced tourist trap.
